Welcome to Day 2 of the MPS Malta 2015

After two starting days and eight levels of 60 minutes each, the field of 247 entries in the €800 Mega Poker Series Malta Main Event at the Casino Portomaso has been trimmed down to 165 hopefuls. Both numbers may still grow though as the (re-)entry option is available until the first card is dealt on Day 2 in about one hour from now as of 14:00 local time.

A fresh start provides 80,000 chips at continuing blinds of 1,000-2,000 with a running ante of 300 and nine levels will be played on the road towards the money. History has shown that in almost every MPS Main Event in the past, the paid places were within a heartbeat but not reached yet. Will the inaugural stop in Season 4, sponsored by William Hill Poker, be any different?

The English live reporting will bring you all the good and bad beats in text form, but there is also a live stream available on a delay of 30 minutes that can be followed here. Salvatore Ritrovato (339,600) soared into the over-night lead at the very end of Day 1b and he was closely followed by Filip Szeszula (337,100) and Przemyslav Klejnowski (329,600). Day 1a chip leader Daniel Jarosch is in fourth with 327,500 whereas Maltese “poker mama” Jackie Cachia (321,500) is in fifth.

Other notables with above-average stacks include MPS Season 3 leader board winner Aristotelis Tavris (212,300), Dieter Aebi (201,100), Pierre Milan (190,500), MPS regular Jacek Pustula (186,000), the Team Poker Royale qualifiers Erwin Hammer (184,100) and Ivan Sebeledi (183,000) as well as EPT Malta 2015 eighth-place finisher Remi Wyrzykiewicz (183,900). Plenty of other familiar faces of the Deep Stack Festival are still in it and you can find their chip counts and table draws by following the two links below:

As of 16:00 local time there is also a €35+5 Turbo Satellite for today’s €300+30 NLHE Side Event that comes with 30,000 in chips and 30-minute levels. Registration remains open for four levels in total and the tournament also counts towards the “Poker mit Herz” charity last longer competition. In each of the Main and Side Events except the Satellites, the last standing player with one of the patches will win back the buy-in for the respective event at the next stop.
